Mayflower Gulch

After a super busy, fun, packed Labor Day weekend, we headed out for a quiet hike this morning up into Mayflower Gulch.  This is by far one of our favorite hike/ski areas.  The views are breathtaking.  The kids have never had the chance to make it to the “top” before so today that was our goal.  We made it up to the old buildings and then because the kids wanted to touch the wall of the gulch we kept on hiking.  It was a glorious morning and we spent about three hours just hiking around.

He touched the wall of the gulch!!!!  This was us reaching the talus field before the steep side of the mountain.

What’s left of the old mining buildings.  This is now open space but everywhere you look, there are remnants of mining, even way up on the cliffs.

Again, I am definitely NOT a wildlife photographer.  Our little friend, Mr. Marmot, was not happy with us hanging out so close to his home.

We had a fantastic weekend.  Saturday night, after a busy day at the shops, we enjoyed an Abba cover band in Dillon and then stayed for the end of season fireworks.  Sunday, we spent the day with my brother and his family at the bike park in Frisco and afterwards I met a friend for coffee and some chat time.

We hope you all had a great weekend.  Back to the grind tomorrow.  I would post a pic of the pile of work I need to do but that would just be depressing.  Have a wonderful week!
