School’s Out, School’s Out, Teacher Let the Fools Adorable Children Out

Is it bad when I have to go back and look at the downloaded pictures to see what we have been up to? Things are slowly calming down. The kids finished school on Friday, Mason got his last set of casts on Tuesday and Sam started swim team practice every morning rain or shine.

Alice graduated from Kindergarten. Her teacher had a really sweet ceremony with hats and diplomas. She is definitely ready for 1st grade. Sam had an ice cream party to celebrate the last day of school and he is now officially a 2nd grader. We are very proud of both of them, they worked very hard this year.

Scott and I both got a chance to be at school for the kids parties. As we passed each other in the hall of the school, going between classrooms, we nervously commented about the day when we will have 4 kids at one school. Wow, that will be crazy!

Here are some cute pics that I snapped of the kids in the past week.

Mason giving Jesse kisses. He LOVES her. She is not quite sure what to think of him yet.

Sam finally got a haircut. He wanted to keep it long in the back but we are pretty sure that hairstyle went out in the late 80’s. Really sure that it never should have been in. He looks very handsome and will be much cooler in the hot sun. Big bonus to shorter hair~less pulling when the swim cap comes on and off.
Sam swimming laps during swim practice. He is doing awesome and is a trooper in the cold water early in the morning.

Yesterday we went to the Denver Zoo with our friends. The weather could not have been nicer and the animals were out and about. We always appreciate that! Today we spent most of the day at the pool. Alice and Paige were in the small pool for pretty much the entire time, only coming out to eat or potty. Sam spent much of his time in the big pool playing with friends or in the grass playing with water guns. Mason and I hung out under the umbrella and strolling around the pool attempting to avoid the splash from said pools and guns. He did pretty good considering he is stuck on deck with hot heavy casts. Luckily the end of casting is in sight and he will be able to play in the small pool with the girls very soon. June 10th cannot come quick enough!

Pictures from the zoo. What with 4 kids, a stroller, diaper bag, lunch sack, hats, sunscreen, etc. I didn’t get a ton of pictures.

Hopefully I will get back here soon. Blogging would be so much quicker if I just sat down every night and gave a short update. The truth is most nights I want to sit on the couch and watch the back of my eyelids. That happens more often than sitting on the couch blogging.
Have an awesome weekend. We hope to make it back to the pool at some point and get in good runs.
Love to all,

Happy Birthday Scott!

From all of us πŸ™‚ We hope that you have a spectacular day! We love you! Thanks for being a great dad and husband!

Jennifer, Samuel, Alice, Paige and Mason
I couldn’t help but post some fun pictures from years past……way past. I also posted some favorites of Scott with the kids.

High school graduation! You had just turned 18!!! Wow, we look young….10 years ago. You had no idea what what in store for us?

Have a great day!

Red Rocks

Today we went on a hike through one of our favorite places in Colorado Springs, Red Rocks Open Space. Much of the park used to be a granite quarry and there are tons of spots for climbing and exploring.

We have to jump how far down?!?!!?! Just kidding, they were really just mapping out their exit strategy.

Yes! Snack time!

Alice and Paige did great at the ballet recital. Believe it or not, I did find some pink glittery stuff (from our wedding) that worked as eye shadow and it went really well with blush and lip gloss. Don’t they look adorable?

Love to all,

Life at the Wescott Home

Maybe I should make this a weekly blog…

What? What did you say? It is a weekly blog? Sorry grandparents in MI. I know you like your CO grandkid fix more than once a week. I will work on doing better!
Mother’s Day…

Hiking at Helen Hunt Falls

I had a fabulous Mother’s Day. We went to church, for a hike, out to dinner at Il Vicino. The kids were on their best behavior. I could not have asked for a nicer day. I can’t imagine my life any differently. These kids make me a mother.
*****I snapped these pictures of the kids while they were hanging out in my tub. They wanted to try out their swim suits and it was WAY to cold to go outside in the kiddie pool. Of course, Mason only gets submerged in the bath when his casts have to be soaked off so he didn’t get to play in the bath this time. He sat near the edge and still got mightly wet.

The Monday after Mother’s Day, Samuel’s class held a Mother’s Celebration. Each of the children stood up and recited a poem. The had fruit and cookies to eat. Very special. At the end, Sam’s teacher read off some cute things each of the children had said about their mom.

I love my mom because she is so sweet.
I think my mom makes special dinners.
I love my mom because she reads books to me.

Listen to this one. It is so sweet.
My mom is nocturnal. She stays up all night and is sleepy all day.
Hmm, I wonder who wrote that one?

At least he didn’t come up with this sweet message.
I love my mom because she yells at my dad and he obeys her.
Oh, kids say the cutest things.

Alice and Paige have their ballet recital tonight. Their dress rehearsal was last night. I took some video of Alice but the battery ran out and so I only got stills of Paige. She had the audience cracking up. She chose not to dance but to sit on the floor with her head on her hand while the other girls sort of danced around her. It was totally adorable. Little daisies running on and off the stage, waving to their mommies and daddies, playing with their tutus….and right in the middle of all that cuteness sat Paige. It will be interesting to see how she “performs” tonight.

Alice did a great job and I know she will tonight as well. She is definitely our steady child. Bless her heart, she is usually calm in the storm (except when she is the storm). I think that she is especially excited about the stage makeup! She was hoping for eye shadow but unfortunately her mom doesn’t own any. Oh well, she will have to be happy with blush and some lipstick. I think I have some around here somewhere?!??!?

Here are some pics of Paige. I am hoping to post some video of Alice tomorrow, gotta figure out how to do that first πŸ™‚

One of Mason’s favorite spots spots in the house is right next to Sam. Can you guess where?

Yep, playing on the computer. This is the one place where Mason will sit still for more than a nano second. He loves watching Sam play his games.

A very big thank you to Scott’s coworkers. They threw us a lunch party in honor of Mason. It was really kind of them. We are so blessed that Scott can go to work with such awesome people.

Have a great week. This is the last week of school and we are running around like crazy! I am definitely looking forward to life calming down a bit and having the kids home more.

Sam will soon start swim practices and meets every morning all summer long, so we won’t be sitting around for too long πŸ™‚

2 Months Home

Can you believe it? ….2 month HOME! It seems as if he was always here.
Mason has made such strides since coming home.
He knows a ton of signs which makes communication so much easier. He is even putting together “sentences” with his hands. He now knows more, eat, all done, please, thank you, no, yes, milk, book, doggie, birdy, up, down, fan and sleepy.
His favorite video is Baby Van Gogh. He is mesmerized by it and dances to the music with his arms.
Not only is he eating with his fingers but he has started to feed himself with a spoon. When we met him , he was used to being spoon fed. He eats anything that we put in front of him and always wants more! Just like Samuel, Alice and Paige!
Cars and books may be his favorite toys. He easily signs book please and says CAR very clearly.
He also says Mama and Dada, which gets a very excited reaction every time πŸ™‚
His feet are doing really well and we could not be more pleased by the progress. He had a tenotomy on Friday and isn’t fazed by it at all. Here is a pic of his feet Friday morning after the casts came off. He is now in a very sturdy set of casts for 2 1/2 weeks while the tendons heal.

I hope all the moms have a great Mother’s Day. Not sure what is in store for me. πŸ™‚ Truly, God has blessed me in so many amazing ways. I really couldn’t ask for anything more.

Love, Jennifer

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Maybe I should be writing this post in Spanish? Okay, maybe not.

Yesterday, Sam and Alice had their track day at school. They both did well and came home with too many ribbons to count.

Believe it or not, Alice and this classmate are the same age. Maybe this wasn’t the best match up πŸ™‚

Today, Paige had a Mother’s Tea at her preschool. It was so adorable. We sat on blankets and the kids had made muffins and chocolate covered strawberries to eat. They each had planted a marigold in a decorated pot and made a homemade card for their moms. At the end, the kids sang a sweet song. Paige sort of hid in the back with her hands over her face but I was thrilled because that is a huge accomplishment for my really shy girl.

After a busy day, she just couldn’t stay awake.

Carnivals, Tutus, Running, Parties and Tons of Photos

Busy weekend at the Wescott house.
Friday night- Carnival at the kids school. Games, root beer floats, prizes, friends….it was a good time.
Saturday- My friend Kim and I ran a 5 miler at Garden of the Gods. Last year it looked like this. This year it was….well….add misting rain, fog and 30 degree temps and it was pretty much the same πŸ™‚After the race, I met Scott at ballet pictures and helped talked Paige through the pictures. Here are a few pics Scott took before the formal ones. Also one of Alice~she had pictures later in the day. These are their recital costumes.

Saturday afternoon, Kent and Victoria threw us a wonderful shower/open house to welcome Mason home. We had about 70 people at the house and it was a full house! Unfortunately, the weather was crummy so EVERYBODY was in the house, EVERYBODY. It was awesome to see all our friends and family. A big thanks to our travel companions, Jay, Conner and Kyra for driving down from Westminster for the day. It was wonderful to see them! Also, a gigantic thank you to Kent and Victoria for throwing such a wonderful party in honor of Mason. We loved it! I don’t have any pictures because I was so busy catching up with everyone.

Today, the kids sang in church. Sam and Alice did such a great job (as did the other children) :). I was so proud of them (all of them). Paige wasn’t quite ready to stand up in front of everyone and that was okay. We know that she will do it in her own time.

In the afternoon, the children’s choir celebrated the end of the season by going to mini golf. We had a ton of fun and laughed a lot. The kids were so adorable trying to hit the ball. Scott and I decided that Alice was Happy Gilmore. If you were standing anywhere near her swing, you might get whacked. Paige hit the ball like a hammer and quite possible beat her brother and sister with her very unorthodox technique. Sam just hit the ball as many times as he needed to in order to keep up with his friends.

Man, can this guy multitask, or what? This is why I love him so much. He is such a good dad!

The first Wescott family photo.

Kids are in bed, 3 out of 4 sleeping. Relaxing with my feet up, popcorn and a soda. Mason and I are not scheduled to go to Greeley tomorrow but his left cast has cracked so we will wait and see what they tell us in the morning.

Love, Jennifer

This note was left anonymously this morning on our dry erase board. I cried when I saw it. I am glad one of my children feels special. Isn’t that how we want or children to feel?

Then…..I came by a few minutes later and the author of this sweet message had signed her work. Just in case I was wondering πŸ™‚

She doesn’t realize it but she made me feel special by writing it.
Love, Jennifer
