Camping with Friends

This past weekend we took a break from unpacking to have a bit of down time.  We camped at Highland State Park in Fruita.  The weather was perfect for a lake weekend, hot, hot, hot!  The kids lived in their swim suits and got completely water-logged.  They really only took breaks to snack 🙂 We did sneak in a couple of mountain bike rides.  How could we not???  We tried to go early before it got too hot.  It was super fun and we had the trails to ourselves mostly!  The kids always love going with friends.  This was our last hurrah before the start of school.

The kids did take a short break to play a little Bocce ball.

I LOVE that my tent looks like a candy corn….:)

Sunset on the lake…gorgeous.

One of my favorite places and views, the Colorado river.

We are home now and getting back to unpacking. I’m back to work on Wednesday. Feels like summer is winding down…boohooo!

Fun, fun, fun

Well, I couldn’t think of a good title for this post. We have been busy getting ready to move, moving, biking racing, running…all sorts of fun happening around here!

Here are some rad shots of the bike race from Wednesday night. Pictures courtesy of Maverick Sports.

Super proud of all my racers! We had four 4th place finishes and one 11th (out of 15). They are amazing and I love watching, cheering and coordinating….

Alice and I competed again in the Frisco Triathlon. 3k sup, 12k bike and 5k run. It is so much fun that we do it year after year:) More pics on my camera, which is packed. As you can see she finished strong with a big win for the 19 and under. She even smoked the boys 😜 of course!

Group Run

For the past few weeks, the girls and I have been joining a kids running club in Breckenridge. It’s been fun meeting up with other trail runners. The kids range in age from 8-17. On Monday we ran up Boreas Pass rd. to Baker’s Tank and then down the trails. It was an awesome pre-run for a race on Wednesday evening.

Happy trails,

Jennifer

Happy 4th of July!

Another amazing, fun, friend filled day in the books.  It was a busy day but so relaxing at the same time!

Sam got up super early to race the Firecracker 50 in Breckenridge.  He signed up with a partner and did the second 25 mile lap.  This race is brutal with grueling uphills and tight switchbacks and singletrack.  He was thrilled to have beaten his time from last year and not get a flat!

Below, coming into the finish.

Alice taking a break before the Frisco Parade.  This year we got to watch the parade instead of riding on a float.  It was pretty relaxing…but I did miss the fun of creating a float!

I was so busy enjoying our day that I didn’t really take many pictures.  After the parade, the kids sat down in the front yard to split up their candy and Scott and I went downtown to listen to the music.  After a few songs we headed back to Breck to watch Sam’s finish.  Once Sam got home and showered, we went to a friend’s house for a bbq. Due to wildfires all around us, firework shows were cancelled.  We are so dry and just praying for some rain and cooler temps.  Nevertheless, it was such a nice evening hanging out in good company.

Early morning, great day, early night!  Happy Birthday, America!

Views for Days.

Alice, Paige, Mason and I went on a short hike today up to the Old Dillon Res.  I had never done this hike and it did not disappoint!  The views of the lake and the entire county were amazing!  It was a great way to stretch our legs and for me to get some pictures😌.  Happy Sunday, friends!  I hope you are getting outside too.  Love where you live.

June birthdays!

We have two June birthdays around here, Alice and Mason. Alice celebrated with a fun pontoon ride around Lake Dillon. She invited a few friends and we headed out on the water for a couple hours. It was a bit windy but everyone made the best of it 🙂.

Happy 15th birthday to Alice!

Mason chose to take two friends to the Copper Wrecktangle (ninja warrior course). They also got to race go karts and take a ride on the alpine coaster. It was such a fun day!

In the afternoon, Mason opened presents and played games with his siblings. It was a great day to turn 11!

Running with friends…

This morning I got up bright and early (5:30 am!) to run. I met up with four friends to run around Buffalo Mountain. It was a gorgeous morning. Due to construction and wildfire closures we had to start at the top of Wildernest. We ran by Lily Pad Lake and joined the Meadow Creek Trail. We ran up and over Eccles Pass and down and around the back side of Buffalo. Because the Cabin Trail was closed we hopped on the Willowbrook Trail back. Overall, about 15 miles. Lots of fun and laughter. And wildflowers!!!!

What a day!

Today was a busy day! Sam ran a half marathon this morning from Loveland ski area to Georgetown. He did awesome with a time of 1:30:47. He got 26th place overall! In the afternoon we headed over to Keystone to watch my favorite AC/DC cover band, Hell’s Bells. After the concert we met some friends at the Keystone Lodge for a swim. The hotel opens their pool for a couple hours in the afternoon on Saturday for free for locals. Now we are home….relaxing!

Happy Saturday! Love where you live!
